Accident...not us!

I saw the most horrid accident on I-30 going into Dallas at three am this morning. I will spare all the gruesome details but it involved two semi trucks one car and near as I can figure three horses. It was the single most gruesome thing I've ever seen. If I were 60 seconds further it would have been me. One horse looked physically ok but scared witless.  Safe travels all.....

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well we didn't make it home for the holiday, we wanted to save it for Christmas. So we spent two days at the Hampton Inn in a two bedroom suite, full kitchen, jacuzzi tub and had spaghetti for dinner! Not to worry, the next day I did make the most important part of dinner....pumpkin pie! Yummmmm! Back to work now and on or way west ....we're determined to stay warm! Plus I just love the southern hopsitality!

Weekend in Nashville

Been running hard these last two weeks and we both need a break. Walmart, oil change, paperwork....then I will hop online and see whats around...if anything interesting we will see.  I only know 60 degrees in Nashville is better than 30 in Minneapolis! It really is amazing how fast you become wimpy!

How big is nowhere?

Pretty big! We passed more cars driving one mile in New York City than 774 miles through Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota! I'd say there are more cows than cars! Beautiful countryside.

Snow!

Well we knew it would happen sooner or later....ran into a little storm south of Buffalo Wyoming at 4:30 am. So like a smart person I pulled off the highway and took a nap then let my husband drive! Good morning Wyoming!

Diversity

Here's the thing that amazes me.....one person lives their whole life next to a cotton field, the other a corn field. There are those who never drive a car, because the city streets offer them everything they need. Some are friendly (like the bunch in Oklahoma yesterday), some just dont care. Others are raised on the prarie, and some raised in the majestic Sierra Nevada or Continental Divide.

There is a whole world to see, to enjoy. There is beauty, and ugliness.

The thing I remember the most is the kindness, and it doesn't matter what color it is or if it speaks with an accent. It makes you feel good, and it makes you feel even better to give it back.

You don't necessarily remember a tree, or a road, you remember the people you meet.

Woke up!

Watched the sun go down in Kansas and woke up to the Rocky Mountains......pretty awsome! There's snow in them there hills too!

Yes Dorothy we're in Kansas!

What a beautiful sunset driving west last night! The cows, who were sticking their heads through the fence, wanted me to let everyone know that.....Yes, the grass is greener on the other side of the fence! It was hysterical!

Camping in North Carolina

After our trip through New York City we needed fresh air and an absence of sky scrapers! We found a couple of very nice campgrounds in the northeast corner of N. Carolina. The first was Rocky Hock Campgrounds that had a private pond (no fishing license required and Friday night Jamboree's at Dave's Barn). They have all hookups, showers, and laundry. The next night we stayed at Trail's End Campground. Very nice area, shower facilities and full hook ups. Both welcome expediting trucks/vans please see links page for website info. It was a wonderful change from truck stops (which there aren't any of in the northeast corner of the state). Thanks for the hospitality! I got to pick cotton right from the field and Lulu gave me some Sweet Sorghum which I'm anxious to try out on a hot biscuit!
